St. Joseph School opened their hearts this Christmas season and filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child which is...

part of Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. 4th Grade Teacher Mrs. Nancy Beeman spearheaded the worthy cause. The entire school participated in the donation process and her 5th grade science class spent an afternoon separating the items by gender and age group. They filled the boxes with small toys, hygiene items like toothpaste, hard candies, gum, clothing, baseball caps, jewelry, and hair clips. There were six age groups: girls (2-4), boys (2-4), older girls (5-9) and (10-14) and older boys (5-9) and (10-14). Many of the children wrote a letter to the child.

According to the Samaritan’s Purse website, "The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, "Go and do likewise.""

Mrs. Beeman would like to thank all those who participated and said, “Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the children who will receive these gifts and the message of Jesus.” If you would like to participate in this also you may go to www.samaritanspurse.org for details.
