Taylor's short story, entitled The Chair:
I was driving through town when I passed the antique shop. As I passed by, something in the front lawn caught my eye. It was a chair, but it wasn't like any chair I'd ever seen. It looked like a dead man positioned into the shape of a frame. As I locked eyes with it, I was immediately drawn in. I ended up buying the repulsive thing, and as I set it up in my living room, an overwhelming feeling of drowsiness came over me. I sat down in the chair, and the exhaustion faded. The tiredness was suddenly replaced by hunger and rage as I sank into the frame. I could not control my body. Before I knew it, I was through the neighbor's door, knocking him down and ripping through his skin with my teeth. I devoured the body, but left no remains visible. I did the same with the others, and when dawn started to break over the tree line, I returned home. The chair repositioned itself as the frame, and my body was free. I didn't care what time it was. I put the monstrous chair in the back of my truck and returned it to the antique store. A few days later, on my way to work, I saw a car pulling out of the antique shop's driveway. The chair was in the trunk and as I drove away, it turned its head and winked.
Danielle's Untitled short story:
A haunted walkthrough. That was all it was supposed to be. My friend Zoey and I never wanted this to happen. But there was no stopping it. Zoey's mom had driven us to a carnival which housed the walkthrough. Soon enough we were second in line. Ahead of us a group of girls walked in. Finally, it was our turn.
The walkthrough was pretty scary; most of the time our screams became laughs. Ahead of us, we heard high-pitched screams coming from the girls. Wow, I thought, this must get even better! As we moved on, something changed. I no longer felt like laughing. I looked around and realized Zoey was gone.
I got scared, and started to run but soon stopped dead in my tracks. All around me were people...dead people. At first, I thought it was fake. This isn't real, I thought. That is, until I saw the face of one of the screaming girls who had gone in before us. My mouth dropped in horror. I felt myself bump into something. Slowly, I turned around... what I found was Zoey. Only something about her was different. She was dead.
I tried to run but was in shock. I heard a noise come from behind me. Slowly, I turned around. All I could do was scream as a man with a bloody face and sharp pointed teeth came at me with a rope.
